So sad to lose such talent to something so stupid.

Finished! First essay of the new school year.

I really am glad that God gave me the gift of bullshitting essays. I think it is the only thing academically that I can do with ease.

My first day of preschool. I was sitting in the play ground at the end of the day and I remember seeing my mom come through the gate to pick me up with a HUGE smile on her face.

Two of the best. Why can’t we give love one more chance?

Just read that the last words of Troy Davis, “convicted cop killer” were that he is innocent. He said to the family of the victim, “I did not take this life, I did not have a gun”. This is the first time I have really thought about the death penalty, and how broken the system is. Troy Davis; may have been guilty, but the evidence seems to point in a different direction. Actually, let me say, the lack of evidence says differently. An innocent man, killed. Why? So that the rest of America can see that people are punished for their actions? Who are WE to take another life, to prove that taking someone’s life is wrong? America is supposed to be the “free world”, an example of how the world should be. The example that our country is setting is absolutely disgusting, and this only added to it.

I don’t know why I am writing about this. It may be the wine. It may be because we talked about it at work today, or it could be the fact that I am simply outraged that the bureaucracy in this country prevented a man from being able to live for another day. One day, could have changed everything for Troy Davis. I have no clue where I am going with this, but welcome to my brain. I mean seriously? Who are these people to say, “No, we’re sorry, but we have to ignore the fact that you may have new evidence”. How can you allow someone to be executed without knowing 110% that he committed the crime. More so, how can you even execute someone in general. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the death penalty, until this case.

When you take a prisoner’s life, it end’s their punishment. Most of the time, they have made themselves right with their God, and have accepted the fact that their time has come. As soon as the Sodium thiopental seeps through the IV, into the arm, it begins to kill. Sodium thiopental, also know was Truth Serum, is the number one drug used to take a life. It is kind of morbid to me, that a man was murdered while trying to bring the truth to light, and he was murdered with Truth Serum.

Situations like this make me think that there is no hope left for humanity. That Troy Davis was executed, because someone didn’t want to take the time to look over something, or that the state of Georgia was tired of paying for him to take up space in their prison. Have we lost all compassion? Is life not valued anymore? Has the dollar take the place of an innocent man’s soul?

Pop, Lock and drop it.
